Our Employee Bios James V. Marsh Jim Marsh is the President of HofgardBenefits, formerly Hofgard & Company. Jim serves a wide range of clients including sole proprietors up to groups with over 300 employees. A Boulder native, Jim attended Metro State College and worked 10 years in the retail hardware business at McGuckin Hardware before beginning his insurance career in 1985. Since then Jim has gained extensive knowledge of the employee benefits market place in Colorado. Jim began his service with Hofgard & Company on January 15, 1993.
William G. Hofgard Bill Hofgard is the previous owner and founder of Hofgard & Company, now HofgardBenefits. In 1956 Bill started his insurance business in Boulder, Colorado. He formed Benefit Plan Administrators, a Third Party Administrator in September 1985, which became an INC. 500 Company. When BPA was sold in 1992, it covered over 30,000 individuals with 65 firms under self-funded health and dental plan coverages. Bill received his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) in 1966 and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation in 1982. Bill has also served the University of Colorado, School of Business as an adjunct professor teaching insurance courses. Bill is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table having qualified for annual membership for 35 years. He is a Past President of the Boulder Life Underwriters Association, the Boulder Estate Planning Council and Boulder United Way. He was a trustee of First Presbyterian Church and is member of Boulder Rotary Club and the Boulder Country Club. Currently Bill serves on the Board of Directors at Heritage Bank. Bill was born in Scottsbluff, NE and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He was in the US Army from 1954-1956 and attained the rank of Captain.
Kurt C. Hofgard Kurt Hofgard is an Attorney specializing in estate planning for individuals. His law degree comes from Lewis & Clark Law School, and he holds a Bachelor of Arts in History with Honors from Stanford University, as well as the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant designations from the American College. Kurt is a member of the Colorado, Oregon and Boulder County Bar Associations (Estate & Taxation and Business Sections). Born and raised in Boulder, Kurt has enjoyed working with his father, Bill since 1994, and relating to clients of any type or generation.
Christine Prieto Christine Prieto is an Account Executive responsible for all levels of service fro individual and group clients. She handles the day to day client service needs, as well as new business, and is the liaison between HofgardBenefits clients and the insurance companies. Before joining Hofgard in March 2002, Christine was the Payroll and Benefits Administrator at Gores Technology in Boulder. She has been in the Payroll and Benefits business for over 12 years including six years as Payroll and 401(k) Administrator for Alfalfa's and Wild Oats. Christine is originally from Dallas, Texas and has lived in Colorado for over 25 years. She devotes the second part of her fulltime job to her family, which includes a husband twin boys, their younger brother, and stepsister.
Heather Riggins Heather Riggins is a Benefits Analyst at HofgardBenefits. She is responsible for new client quotes and renewals. Before Joining HofgardBenefits in 2009, Heather was the payroll administrator for Ace Hardware in Longmont. She has 6 years of Payroll and benefits experience. Heather is a Colorado Native and graduated from Front Range Community College in 2004 with an Associates Degree.
Doreen Fitzgerald Doreen Fitzgerald is the Service Manager of the FlexWise Cafeteria Plan Administration company at HofgardBenefits. She is responsible for servicing claims for various clients and handles all day-to-day activity for the Flex clients. In 1991, she was employed by Benefit Plan Administrators, Inc., a third party administrator owned at the time by Hofgard & Company, as the billing coordinator. Although not a native, Doreen has lived in Colorado for more than 40 years and graduated from Skidmore College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
Cindy Marsh Cindy Marsh is the Office Manager & Administrative Assitant at HofgardBenefits. She is responsible for managing our office and serving our clients. Prior to joining HofgardBenefits in October 2007 Cindy taught music for K-12 students at Christian Fellowship school for 12 years. Cindy is a 1978 graduate of the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education.
